Description:Leopards are also slightly smaller than jaguars, and live in Africa and parts of Asia, rather than in South America. There are many mutualistic relationships within the ecosystem of the rainforest. Tropical forests are classified by the amount of rainfall received each year, which has allowed ecologists to define differences in these forests that look so similar in structure. Their survival depends on the dipterocarp and fig trees which house and feed them throughout the year. It is home to a number of birds , snakes and lizards , as well as predators such as jaguars , boa constrictors and leopards. Vampire bats are found in the Americas. Respiration rates are highest early in the wet season because the recent dry season results in a large percentage of leaf litter and thus a higher percentage of organic matter being leached into the soil.
